Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor and Aswan
This 10-day Christmas in Cairo, Alexandria, and Nile cruise vacation will take you to some of the most iconic places in Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, and Aswan. Cairo will kick off by marveling at the wonders of the Pyramids of Giza and the Egyptian Museum, and be crowned with a delicious dinner of festivities. The city will continue to marvel as you travel to Alexandra, then inland to Luxor, which is a treasure chest of temples and tombs, including the world-renowned Valley of the Kings. Finally, cruise along the Nile to Aswan and relax as this tour takes in the sights of majestic Egypt. This journey will remain one of the most memorable Egypt Trips, inclusive of guided tours, comfortable accommodation, festive meals, airport transfer, and everything that you would need during this exciting trip through Egypt's most historic and scenic sites.
We will pick you up from Cairo International Airport by a Best Destination representative and transfer you to your Cairo hotel. We will help you with check-in and make sure everything goes as smoothly and comfortably as possible for you. Overnight in Cairo, hotel, welcome drink.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, after which you will meet your guide. First stop is the Giza Pyramids, enjoy one of the best Giza pyramids tour, where you'll explore the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the pyramid of King Chephren, and the smaller Mycerinus Pyramid. Visit the Giza Necropolis, with a view of the Sphinx of Giza, a symbol of power and wisdom, which is believed to portray King Chephren himself. You can take a camel ride if you wish for some nice pictures.
Move on to the Egyptian Museum, full of over 120,000 artifacts, including the treasures of King Tutankhamun. After having lunch in a local restaurant, proceed to Coptic Cairo to visit the Hanging Church of the Holy Virgin Mary and the old Abu Serga Church.
You will also be visiting Ben Ezra Synagogue in Cairo. Return to your hotel for the night.

Following breakfast, you will meet your Egyptologist tour leader in readiness for your visit to Alexandria, the second capital city of Egypt, home to the famous Citadel of Qaitbay. If you're wondering what to do in Alexandria in one day, this tour has it all! Apart from Qaitbay, you will also visit the Roman Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa, believed to have begun in the 2nd century A.D.; Pompy's Pillar, probably erected around the year 300 by the Roman Emperor Diocletian; and other remains in the vicinity, including the Alexandria Bibliotheca, a famous library with cultural significance. A lunch stop will be made, and you will check in for the night at the Alexandria hotel.

After finishing breakfast, head to El-Alamein Commonwealth Cemetery, which comprises numerous cemeteries and memorials to honor the dead from the battles of different nations. It has a church, a mosque, and a small museum, as well as a German exaltation and an Italian cemetery. You will also visit the Military Museum, which consists of five halls, with murals in the main lobby that tell war stories and sculptures of the leaders of the enemies at war. After this, you will visit additional cemeteries of the Italian, German, and Australian nationalities. Your afternoon Egypt trips to Alamein in Cairo will then come to a close, and you will be transferred back to Cairo.

After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to Cairo International Airport for your flight to Luxor (Thebes), which was the capital city of Egypt in the New Kingdom and is referred to as the world’s largest outdoor museum. As part of many Egypt tour packages, your visit will begin with the Luxor Temple, built for the worship of the god Amun, his wife Mut, and their son, who was also represented in the shape of the god Min, a god of fertility. You will then explore the Karnak Temple complex, constructed by Pharaoh Amenhotep IV. Check in at the Luxor hotel.

On the 6th day of your ongoing trip, you will explore the western bank of Luxor, one of the most famous tourist places in Luxor, and enjoy an 5-star Nile cruise, visiting the Valley of the Kings, which houses around 63 royal tombs where the New Kingdom’s kings and pharaohs are laid to rest peacefully. Afterward, you’ll see the statue of King Amenhotep III, also called the Colossi of Memnon, an impressive twenty-meter-high statue of the king himself. Then, you will be taken back to your hotel in Luxor for the night.

Have breakfast, and then check out before you commence a visit to the Temple of Edfu. A temple dedicated primarily to the god Horus, the Edfu temple is one of the most magnificently decorated and constructed temples in Egyptian history, dating back to the 2nd century BC. Afterwards, continue your Kom Ombo and Edfu temples tour, heading to the Kom Ombo temples, situated on high ground with a beautiful view of the east banks of the Nile. The temple here, associated with the period of Ptolemy VI, is dedicated to the cult of the crocodile god Sobek and to one of the aspects of Horus, who was worshipped in Kom Ombo. Return to Aswan and transfer to the hotel for check-in and an overnight rest.

Today, most of Aswan will be shown to you. After breakfast, you will begin by visiting the marvelous High Dam of Aswan, located on the border of Egypt and Sudan. Then, you will head to the Unfinished Obelisk of Egypt, which was sculpted between 1508 and 1458 B.C. and commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut; it was chiseled out of a single stone. Later, you will visit the Temple of Philae, which was built in honor of the goddess Isis. Dinner and overnight stay in Aswan.

After breakfast, you check out and start your day with a tour to the beautiful temple, the magnificent Abu Simbel Temples, from Aswan. These temples have been constructed under the aegis of Ramses II and also go by the name Sun Temple of Ramses II, besides the smaller temple that was put up in memory of his beloved Nubian Queen Nefertari. After this adventure, there will be a transfer to Aswan for exploring some of the unique things to do in Aswan before boarding your Nile cruise and flying back to Cairo for overnight accommodation at your hotel.
