Overview

St. Catherine Monastery is an Orthodox Greek monastery. During your Egypt vacations, you can explore its amazing walls, which house a citadel like no other, incredibly rich in important religious and historical structures.

Itinerary

Day 1

Departure right after breakfast from your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh. To the spa St. Catherine where you will visit St. Catherine's Monastery oldest monastery in Christianity- 220 km northwest of Sharm El Sheikh, located between the St. Catherine's Mounts and Moses Mount. It is an Orthodox Greek monastery and within its amazing walls rests a citadel like no other, incredibly rich in important religious and historical structures. Among its treasures is the Museum of St. Catherine, which houses icons attributed to the painter Angelos, one of the most famous artists of the 15th century, or to his peers, as well as all six icons by Michael Damaskenos, which are considered among the most important works of the Cretan School of the 16th century. From there we will drive to Dahab, the Flower Power City at the Red Sea, for a city and shopping tour. Lunch at a local restaurant will be followed by a transfer back to your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh. This day trip is the best trip from Sharm El Sheikh combining religious history with local culture. During our stay we requested some additions to the program (during the month of Ramadan and most archaeological sites and museums close very early, between 15 and 16) and we were always satisfied.
